Join us on Thursday, September 11th at 5:30 p.m. as we welcome esteem author and historian Micheal C Harris and he talks about his newest book on Fighting for Philadelphia: Forts Mercer and Mifflin, and the Battle of Whitemarsh, and the Road to Valley Forge.   His Philadelphia Campaign saga, which picks up after the defeat at the Battle of Germantown, and focuses on the British battle to take the forts guarding the Delaware River and also Howe’s last offensive against Washington at The Battle of Whitemarsh.  You get to follow the Washington’s Army from October of 1777 to the march into Valley Forge in December of 1777.

Michael’s first book in the series Brandywine: A Military History of the Battle that Lost Philadelphia but Saved America, September 11, 1777, was a huge success which was followed by his next book on Germantown: A Military History of the Battle for Philadelphia, October 4, 1777, which is also a success.  Michael new book is called Fighting for Philadelphia: Forts Mercer and Mifflin, the Battle of Whitemarsh, and the Road to Valley Forge, October 5–December 19, 1777 and helps fill in the gaps from the aftermath of the Battle of Germantown to the march into Valley Forge.

Michael C. Harris is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington and the American Military University. He has worked for the National Park Service in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Fort Mott State Park in New Jersey, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission at Brandywine Battlefield. He has conducted tours and staff rides of many east coast battlefields. Michael is certified in secondary education and currently teaches in the Philadelphia region.
